Barry M Hi-Shine Gelly Nail Paint

Ok so this blog must start with a confession, I hate having to admit to things like this, but before this year I never really gave Barry M much notice, I always just saw it as another cheap drugstore brand but boy was I wrong and am so glad I finally gave it a proper chance and I did so in the form of the Nail polishes, Specifically the Gelly Hi-shine polishes. I also felt seen as how i'm giving away 3 of these bad boys as part of my 100 BlogLovin follower giveaway I thought it was the ideal time to review them.

Some people adore them and hold them highly as their favourite polishes, others haven't quite been so lucky and think they don't quite meet the standards we are all used to with Barry M.  But the negative reviews and comments on the Gelly Hi-Shine really didn’t put me off trying them.

Recently I popped into Boots for a 'quick visit and look around'. As you can imagine, in beauty blogger terms that means going in, having a look, and leaving with a lot less money than you walked in with (don’t we all hate when this happens, I always tell myself I won’t buy anything but this NEVER happens) . When I saw that Barry M had an offer of 3 for 2 (Don’t we all love boots and they’re offers), I decided it was about time I picked up a few shades to try for myself. The shades I picked were Prickly Pear, Lychee and Greenberry. So what do I think of these polishes?

On me, I find these just to be like most nail polishes. I don't really get why they are called Gelly polishes. They definitely have a high shine finish, and I don't need a top coat when I use these. I do find you really need to take the time to let these fully dry as they can remain quite tacky for quite a while. But other than that, I've had no reason to dislike them and certainly think I'll add a few more shades to my collection. You can find the Barry M Gelly Hi-Shine polishes in Boots and Superdrug,   they retail at £3.99 each.

Barry M has become my brand of choice for nail polishes ever since trying the Gelly Hi-Shine polishes and I have built up quite a collection. I like Barry M because the colour range is fab, the price is great and there are often deals making it far too easy to pick up a few shades and save a few pennies. For me at least these polishes stay put, don't chip and last well. I probably own more Barry M Nail Paints than any other brand.

Have you tried these or any other Barry M  polishes, do you like them?

  1. I love Barry M polishes, and other than Essie, they are the brand I have the most of. They are such good quality and the colour range is brilliant. Highly recommend them.

    1. Hahaha well if you demand it then I really must. My only problem with nail polish is that I have a horrible nail biting habit so its not often that I actually have nails but i'm a sucker for the odd set of acrylic nails and when I have a set on I ALWAYS get them painted with Barry M.

  4. These polishes are gorgeous colours, I've not tried them as I always have my nails done professionally by my friend which is a shame when I see gorgeous colour nail polishes in blog posts and in stores. Btw I nominated you for a Liebster award, great blog :)

    1. Awh thank you Belle that is so kind of you it really means a lot, unfortunately I have already taken part in the Liebster award and done the post so I can't repeat it but that really means so much. I am the same with my nails I have serious issues with biting them so I have so many polishes in fab colours but I don't get to use them enough.

  6. Barry M polishes are really underrated, I think they're great and easy to apply. So much value for their price! Great post. I really hate that they don't sell Barry M in Denmark.
